Diario de Ibiza reports that clubs could remain shut well into 2021 or until a coronavirus vaccine is found.
Venues and nightclub associations had been lobbying to get clubs open toward the end of the 2020 season with social distancing and increased hygiene measures in place but the Balearic government has ruled out any club activity this year.
Things had been looking optimistic for the White Isle when it was confirmed that tourists would allowed to travel to the island from July and Ibiza Rocks announced a series of socially-distanced pool parties beginning July 1.
While this is not great news for the clubs, local tourism, artists and party people it is in the best interest of the public health and safety. We are sure putting these measures in place will make the party scene bounce back stronger than ever.
